House is the lovely kind that you might find in Northampton. There is a deck so you can spend lots of time outside (smoking outside only.) It might not be as quiet, but Staten Island is close to Manhattan; free ferry is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride (bus is a 1-2 minute walk away, a return bus stops two houses away.) Aside from Manhattan, Staten Island has a lot of lovely parks and the beautiful Chinese Scholar Garden at Snug Harbour is close by.
