We have comfortable cottage in a lovely resort-like private, second home community in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. The Berkshires are known as the top cultural summer resort community in the USA - if not in the world. We have four Equity - as in Actors Equity - (which means Broadway caliber) theater companies _ each has a Main Stage and a second stage. We get the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops Orchestras at Tanglewood, and Jacob's Pillow Dance with top dance companies from all over the world. And there is a lot more, including many performances for children.
The community has a web site @ otiswoodlands.com. I urge you to access the web page to get an idea of the amenities (including a large heated pool and four tennis courts -- including a ball machine that you can use) that we have at both Otis Wood Lands - we call it OWL - and in the area. In addition to the listed OWL Amenities, we have a new "state of the art" fitness center that is fully equipped. We also have our own 4 person rubber boat (it really is only large enough for two adults) that we keep at the lake (the oars and life jackets we keep at our house). There are also several inexpensive golf courses -- and a couple of expensive ones -- nearby. Our home has four bedrooms and three full baths. There bare two bedrooms and two baths in the upper level, along with the "Great Room" (a combination of living -- dinning room and open kitchen). In the lower level we have a recreation room wit a convertible sofa, two bedrooms, a laundry room, a large bathroom with a double shower, and a utility -- storage room off the entry room. Each bedroom has two twin beds but in two of them we have put the beds together. The master bath has a Jacuzzi tub and shower. Every home site in OWL is at least one acre, and many are much larger. There are restrictions on taking down trees -- the Wood Lands is really very woodsy. We cannot clearly see another home from ours, although our lot is just a bit over one acre -- ours is one of the more modest homes in the community at just under 2000 sq. ft. I will attach some photos of our home. Our home is about a 21/2 hour drive from New York City or Boston. We are a retired couple. I was a college Professor -- I taught Management - and Elissa was a Librarian. We will only be the two of us. We have an older car that is only good for local travel that we can make available to you, but you will probably want to rent a car to get to our home and for any long trips. We play tennis nearly daily, so access to tennis courts -- public are fine -- is important to us. We are interested in an exchange for about two weeks in May or early June 2008. Very Truly Yours, Frank and Elissa Flaumenhaft |
