Our Manhattan apartment is very comfortable and spacious, w/a wireless connection. We live in a small, friendly building on what's called the upper west side--it's in the area of Columbia University. We're close to parks, shops, restaurants, the subway and to all that NYC has to offer. People who've stayed in our apartment before seem to have found it a very nice place to spend time. Our place comfortably sleeps 4--a couple in the master bedroom, one person in our daughter's bedroom, and someone in the guest room. Two people could also share the guestroom if they don't mind doubling up--there's a full-size sleeper sofa in there. We have most of the major amenities--dishwasher, TV, stereo, air conditioning in every room. the washer/dryer are in the basement and are coin-operated. (Note to any allergy sufferers: we do have two cats [and gladly will care for your pets if you have any.] They need some pills given daily and I'm probably going to be having a cat sitter stop by to do that.)

Destination wanted:

We would like to spend our 2010 summer vacation (August) in Norway. My husband's ancestry is 100% Norwegian but he's never been there. Ideally, we hope to stay in Bergen, but are very open to considering other options. Also ideally, we'll find a place that allows us to use a car, along with a home, but again, willing to consider all options!

Additional information:

We're a married couple, both journalists who work for the New York Times, with an 8 year old daughter. Our preference is to be somewhere that's not *too* urban and again, Bergen is our top choice. Hopefully, we'll find some place with things for an 8 year old to do. We'd like to go approximately from the middle of this August for maybe 2.5 weeks--leaving to come back to the U.S. at the end of August or in early September. We are very responsible and reliable, and would happily offer references! We have now done two home exchanges.
