Our house was built in 2007 in the Stapleton development in northeast Denver, a new-urbanism neighborhood. The house features many upgrades, such as granite counter tops, hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, crown molding & custom tile. There are three bedrooms: a large master suite with king bed, our son’s room with full bed, and our guest room with a queen bed. The master bath has a large shower and a separate very large tub, the second bath has a regular shower-tub, and the first floor has a half bath. On the first floor is the living room, kitchen, a formal dining room, and an office (with French doors and a futon if another bed is needed). We have approximately 2,000 square feet, plus the unfinished basement where the laundry and our gym equipment are located. The Rocky Mountains can be seen from our front porch.
The neighborhood features many different types of homes (all built within the last 6 years) and an emphasis on the community and shared space. There are a lot of young families, an active gay community, and empty-nesters. We are about 2 blocks to a restaurant and a coffee shop, but there are many more restaurants (independent & chain) a 5 minutes drive away. Our neighborhood is very pedestrian friendly and there are nice parks, playgrounds, & outdoor swimming pools within walking distance. Denver International Airport is about 20 minutes away.
The real attraction for you will probably be exploring the city of Denver and/or exploring the Rocky Mountains. Downtown is about 15 minutes away (by car, or by the #20 bus). The time to get to the mountains varies greatly depending on where you’re headed, but you could be there in about half an hour. Colorado has some of the best skiing conditions in the world and the ski season is long.
