Our home is a nine room, three and a half bath Victorian-Colonial house built in 1901. We have kept the old carved oak staircase and other features from that era but have modernized the utilities. The result is an interesting, comfortable home.

We are located in a "Landmark Area" six blocks from Prospect Park, considered to be a masterpiece of municipal park planning. It contains a lake with boating, ten tennis courts, horseback riding, bicycle paths, a zoo and world famous Botanical Gardens. The Brooklyn Museum (one of America's foremost museums) and the main Brooklyn Public Library are adjacent to the park. Both have programs of cultural interest for adults and children. We are twenty minutes from midtown Manhattan by car. The subway station is one block away and Manhattan can be reached safely and comfortably in 35-45 minutes. There is also an express bus stopping two blocks away that goes into Manhattan. We are two minutes from the major highway network surrounding New York so that we have easy access to the many attractions of Long Island, New Jersey and upstate New York. Atlantic Ocean beaches, beautiful and safe for swimming, are located all around Brooklyn and can be reached in fifteen minutes by car or 20 minutes by bus or subway. There is also a bicycle path to the beach. Deep-sea fishing is available on boats leaving from nearby waterfront areas. Besides the restaurants and theaters in Manhattan there are many movie houses and interesting restaurants in Brooklyn. Within ten minutes by car you can dine in Brooklyn's China Town as well as in Arabian, Italian, seafood, steak, Israeli, Turkish, Thai, French, “New American”, Russian, Mexican, Spanish, Cuban, Indian, Caribbean, Norwegian, Japanese, Vegetarian and New York style Delicatessen restaurants. We may have missed a few but we always leave an updated restaurant list for our guests.

After a busy day in New York it is very pleasant and refreshing to return to our quiet verdant neighborhood to relax in the garden.

Our fully fenced rear garden is approximately 1500 square feet lushly planted with flowers, trees, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry bushes and a variety of vegetables and herbs. There is also a grass area for sunning. There is a large California style wooden deck overlooking the garden, opening off the kitchen and dining room by sliding glass doors. There is ample garden and deck furniture for relaxing and dining outdoors.

The ground floor of the house has the kitchen, living room with a piano, dining room, a large front hall, one and a half bathrooms and two consultation rooms with beds, which can be used as single bedrooms or small sitting rooms for reading. The kitchen (16 by 22 feet) has a sunroom at one end and brick fireplace that can be used for barbecuing. There is also a barbecue on the deck. We have all modern appliances including a restaurant quality gas stove with a salamander broiler, dishwasher, Cuisinart food processor, microwave oven, Kitchenaid mixer, large refrigerator and a large variety of pots, pans and gourmet gadgets. The kitchen is the most used room in the house. There is comfortable seating and entertainment center with a color television, and satelite TV, stereo system, CD player and VCR. The living room and dining room together measure 36 by 16 feet. There is adequate furniture for relaxing or entertaining. We have a good library including fiction and non-fiction.

The second floor has the master bedroom, and two other bedrooms Five to seven people could sleep in these rooms. There are two bathrooms, one with bathtub and shower and one with a stall shower. There is a color TV (with satellite), DVD player and a VCR on this floor. The second floor also has an extra kitchen that we use as a laundry. Besides the washing machine and dryer we have a large freezer there.

The third floor currently is occupied by two young women in their twenties, who are friends of the family. They will watch the house if you are away. The house is such that they are hardly ever seen and they are very nice and unobtrusive. They can be very helpful in guiding you concerning the attractions of NY, especially those that are au courant. They will take care of watering the plants.

Every room has its own air-conditioner. There is a small deck, partially covered, off one of the second floor bedrooms.
We have one cat who is friendly and will be cared for by our tenants if you wish.

We are both physicians, specializing in psychiatry. We have exchanged more than twenty times with families in Europe and America and all have been wonderful experiences. We have accumulated much tourist information and many maps that we leave for you.

We look forward to hearing from you.
