Greetings!
Welcome to our cozy cottage, known to our friends as the "treehouse." It's a two storey carriage house, separately fenced behind another house for maximum privacy and a great getaway. We are in the process of changing a few pieces of furniture and the yard, so I'll try to keep it updated. The treehouse has a number of mature trees around it, and there should be some delicious apples and tomatoes in the yard while you're here. It's decorated with an eclectic variety of art and antiques, and has a large library for you to enjoy during your stay. We have a Netflix subscription, and can order movies of your choice to be waiting for you upon your arrival. There's a lovely deck upstairs near the kitchen, so you can start your day out with a cup of tea on the deck and bread or pastries from the international award winning boulangerie down the street. There's also a dishwasher, washing machine, and wifi internet access (in fact, you can use our Mac while you're staying with us). Now, the location. Berkeley is directly across the San Francisco Bay from the Golden Gate Bridge, and quick subway ride into San Francisco. Think of the relationship between Berkeley and San Francisco as somewhat akin to that between Brooklyn and Manhattan. We're directly on the bus line to the world renowned University of California, which is a 10 minute ride. We are one short block to buses to downtown Berkeley and Oakland, and a short walk to the subway, which whisks you to downtown San Francisco in around 30 minutes. We are also a very short walk to tennis courts and a number of fantastic bars, clubs, cafes, and restaurants. If you didn't already know, the Bay Area is renowned for its food, and Berkeley is where the slow food movement in the US was born. Berkeley also has world class museum shows at the Berkeley art museum, and we can fill you in on all the inside places to go in Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco. It's also ideal for those who love to do outdoor activities, as Tilden Regional Park is right up the hill and perfect for hiking and breathtaking views, as well as a number of other activities (such as swimming in Lake Anza). If you want to wander further afield, we are an ideal starting point for Muir Woods, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Napa and Sonoma wine country, Big Sur, and Yosemite. We will be happy to provide you with all the information you need to best enjoy your stay! |
