I have an up-and-down duplex in Asheville, NC, about a 7 minute walk from Downtown! It's in the city’s historic Montford district. Our house was built in 1950’s, but a block or two away are all the old Victorian houses which are really nice to stroll around and look at.
I own the entire duplex, but we live in the bottom and rent out the top, so we’d be doing a trade with you for our personal downstairs apartment. The upstairs person has their own entrance, parking, and backyard, so it’s private but you may occasionally hear them walking around upstairs. Anyway, our place is nothing fancy or big, but it’s cute and cozy and about 870 sq. feet, with 2 bed/1 bath. We have internet access (but no cable tv), two nice queen sized beds, a full bathroom, a nice double reclining leather couch, a big back yard, and a covered porch with a table and chairs. It's our primary residence, so it's lived in and has everyday stuff in it--it's not a fancy vacation rental...but it's a great jump off point to downtown or all the interstates and natural/outdoorsy stuff.
If you haven't been to Asheville, you must!!! It's really the most amazing place and I'd be happy to also send you some info about the area, what to do, etc. Asheville is in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, where the southern charm meets the progressive creative scene!
Thanks!
