we have a very modern bright and cosy apartment. it was built in the 1950's and is situated on the ground floor and has a balcony at there rear of the apartment, this is a very common occurrence here in Sweden almost all apartments have a balcony even if they are on the ground floor, its a nice place to sit in the evening as you get the evening sun and this is also the perfect place to watch the sun set. our home is a no smoking home! but if you are a smoker you can do so on the balcony. we are situated in a area known as star houses due to the fact that from above the houses form a star like shape. the street we live on is called vestra vintergatan, (translated west milky way street) it is away from the main road and follows around in a circle with a large park in the center which is our communal garden, the next street after ours is almost the same with a large park in the center including there own pool, tennis courts, football, BBQ places and several play areas. our home is located in one of Sweden's larger towns even tho there is only around 145000 persons living here in this town,(only around 9 million in the whole of Sweden) there is a lot of interesting history within this town. it was built around the famous castle in the center of town with a mote that surrounds it and around the whole town center and beyond, this is known as the black river (svartån) the town center is only 15 min walk from here or 5 min bike ride, its very much a bike city almost everyone owns a bike from the very young to the very old and is the most popular choice of transport.(of course our bikes will be available for your use and also our car if you come by the same airport as we depart from then our car would be available for you to collect from the airport car park and drive on to here. (it is around 2 hours drive from Stockholm Arlanda airport) the area we live is a working class area, and a very polite and friendly community, we believe it is the most beautiful housing complex in this town and apartments here are very sort after it has a long waiting list of people wanting to rent a property here, its very well kept lots of green, flower beds, many BBQ areas, many children's play areas, tennis courts, outdoor pool, bowls green, and a man made stream flowing around the area there are untold seating ares good for picnics, and outside each property there is a seating area. it is very child friendly and very well maintained to a high standard, there is a large group of workers who work everyday on maintaining the area.
Sweden has many, many beautiful lakes all surrounded by lush green forest making for some breath taking views! and you are never more than 10 min drive away from one. in the peek of summer the sun still shines at midnight and starts to rise again before it goes completely down, hence Sweden being known as the land of the midnight sun. but then during the winter its darker for much longer, it can get quite cold and always lots of snow. but it is not all doom and gloom, its great to go sledging, skiing, ice skating on the frozen rivers, you can build a snowman or even have a snowball fight with your neighbours and much, much more, it can be quite beautiful with a pure white blanket laying over the land and tuffs of snow hanging from the trees also you can always guarantee a white Christmas.
there is so much more to say about this beautiful country so if you like what you have read so far or if you are just interested to learn a little more about our life in Sweden and how we live then feel free to contact me for a more in depth description of this stunning country, i have posted some more photos on my facebook profile, listed in the album named home swap (of course :-)then you can get a real picture of what our home is like and the street we live on.

There is so much to show and tell you about were we live and impossible to do that in 4 photos, so please check out my facebook for a complete view of our home and the street we live on.( www.facebook.com search me, klammy1@hotmail.com, then look up the photo album named home swap, and for local tourist information go to www.orebro.se, then at the top left choose your preferred language) we don't have a specific destination that we would prefer, we are very open minded to all offers! we are quite excited to what sort of people and places come our way. rural destinations away from the city were we could get a real feel for the culture would be very attractive to us, sometimes you need to get away from the mainstream to experience the real culture. for example a nice town or village were life is very traditional and we could indulge ourselves and participate in a your way of life, ( for example some of America's smaller towns way out from the city would be very appealing to us)this kind of swap appeals to us most, more than site seeing in the city even tho we would enjoy that also. we would really love to experience a Christmas in the sun as we have never done this before so if there is any one who would like to trade a sunny Christmas for a white one please contact us :-) I'm sure you will agree Sweden is a beautiful country and if you have never visited here before i would highly recommend it. let the photo's sell it for you :-)
Additional information:
we live in a rented apartment this is very common occurrence here in the town, there is not so many house within the town, (but not all apartments are rented some are privately brought) but this is the most common form of housing. outside the town deeper into the forest or out in the country there you will be more likely to find traditional wooden Swedish houses, it doesn't matter how deep you go into the forest or how remote a area you will always find a house. our home is central heated, constant supply of hot water, no bath but a wet room with a power shower, a shared laundry room which is based across the road, it has 6 washing machines, 3 tumble dryers and 3 dryer cupboards it also has 1 large washing machine for mats, it is very clean, well maintained and the machines are new, it works on a booking system you book a time for a duration of 3 hours were you have complete use of everything in the room, during this time only you can access the room. it is shared with about 12 other apartments and there is many of these laundry room through out the complex, but you can only use the designated laundry room for this apartment. we have a flat screen Internet TV 46" and a blueray DVD in the front room, also a small office space with a computer (windows 7) printer and telephone. a flat screen 22" TV and blueray DVD in bedroom, cable TV in both rooms.(almost all TV programs are in English with Swedish subtitles, a lot of american TV) coffee maker, microwave, good range of kitchen equipment, electric cooker and a dinning table. we have a portable BBQ for use in the park or were ever you wish (there are many, many permanent BBQs area's through out the complex, you just supply the coal and food) many of the forest have designated BBQ spots with ready chopped wood for the general public's use. we only have one bedroom but there is a king size bed and a single bed in there for our 4 year old daughter ( we have 2 comfy fold up bed which are easily opened up and there is plenty of room in the front room for them also the sofa is large enough to use as a spare bed and is very comfy (I've had to use it a few times myself :-) we have lots of extra bedding, pillows and quilts all of which will have been washed fresh. just 5 min walk from here we have a newsagents, flower shop, hairdressers, a bike repair shop and a small supermarket with an ATM, there is also a pizza hut, McDonald's, a subways, a pizzeria, video hire shop with sunbeds, a petrol garage, and a larger supermarket all within 10 min walk. there is a bus stop across the road with a bus going to up town every 8 min. there are two train stations central and south from these you can catch a train or a coach to anywhere in Sweden (Stockholm, Sweden capital city for example). we have Europe's largest indoor adventure play area for children called lek & buslandet it is 7000 KVM, it has everything you could imagine, plenty to keep the kids occupied for hours there is a pirate ship with guns that the kids can fire foam balls, a volcano to climb with a large slide to come back down on, a giant blow up dragon, trampolines, adventure laser gun area, tennis court, basket ball, football, bowling, billiards, ball pit, go karts, very large climbing area with many slides, a baby's area, a food court and much more such a perfect way to occupy and tire the kids, this is just 10 min walk from here and is very cheap around $10 for kids and free for parents, this is my daughter favourite place you could say its our second home :-)
