Exchange Zones

Our semi-detached house, finished in 2003, is nice and roomy, has 2 double bedrooms and 2 one-person bedrooms. We are a family of 4, our children are 8 and 10 years old.
The house has air conditioning for the summer and a fireplace + heating for the somewhat colder days in winter. In the living room we have SAT-TV with English channels (e.g. ITV, BBC, CBS, etc...) as well as the local channels, so you can pick up some Spanish :) In the first bedroom there is another SAT-TV in case you cannot all agree on what to watch. The terrace has 6 chairs and a table + BBQ. You can extend the awning and have a nice breakfast on the terrace. We have recently paved the garden and have now a 88 sqm large terrace additionally. The kitchen has everything you need. We use gas for warm water and cooking. We don´t have a safety door at the stairs to go up, only upstairs so sleepy heads don't fall down the stairs (or dogs don´t warm the beds while you are gone). Pets are allowed, but please advise in advance. The whole garden has a wall around it so no pets can escape and children can play safely. There is also a safety door on the terrace that closes the stairs to go down to the garden, this is good in case you have toddlers.

Our house is not situated at the canals in Empuriabrava but on the outskirts of Castelló d´empuries (Ampuriabrava belongs to the municipality of Castelló d´empuries). It is an urbanization of similar houses with friendly neighbours where the children play on the street at night and neighbours gather to chat. It is at approx. 6 km from the beach which is known for his excellent windsurfing, kiting and sailing possibilities. Ampuriabrava has around 30 km of canals with luxurious houses built along the canals. You can rent a boat (no permit required) and drive through the many canals and visit the so-called "Florida" of Europe.

You can take the train from Figueras to Barcelona (1,5 hours) and visit this beautiful city! Or visit Girona (40 Minutes) with its beautiful churches. You can also drive up the mountains in Rosas or Palau Saverdera and enjoy the magnificent views of the bay! For the brave: should you like jumping out of a plane we have a very renowed dropzone for skydivers in Ampuriabrava (http://www.skydiveempuriabrava.com) and in case the weather conditions are bad, you can jump in the windtunnel (http://www.windoor-realfly.com). You can of course also play Golf right behind our house at the Pitch & Putt of Castelló d´empuries (http://www.castellopitchandputt.com). You can visit the Butterfly Park, visit bodegas, go to the saturday market (large!) or enjoy the many festivities (festa majors) the nearby villages organise in the summer months.

HOW TO GET HERE: You can reach us by plane, landing in Barcelona or Girona(Gerona). From Barcelona airport you can take the train and arrive in 1,5 hours in Figueras, from there 8 km by bus or taxi. From Girona airport you need approx. 40 minutes by train to Figueras and from there 8km by bus or taxi to our house.
