Utrecht is a friendly city and boasts cultural and historical highlights. The city's ultimate symbol is the beautiful Dom Tower. In addition, Utrecht offers great shopping, contemporary convention and meeting venues, pleasant sidewalk cafes and all the ingredients for great clubbing. We are convinced you will feel right at home in this lovely city! Utrecht partly owes its dynamic character to its beautiful canals. The Utrecht canals are unique in that wharves line them. These wharves are special quays below street level and directly on the water. You can enjoy a delicious meal in one of the wharf cellars or in one of the numerous outdoor cafes along the canals. The canals themselves are turned into lively stages to host various activities. The area also abounds with fun boutiques, offering colorful and creative merchandise. Utrecht is close to Amsterdam (half hour train), Rotterdam (half hour train), The Hague (40 min. train), Belgium, Germany, France. It is an ideal base for exploring Netherlands (10 minute walk to train station and close to all major highways). Car is not really necessary since public transit is very good in the Netherlands.
