Bungalow, built in 1985, with nice garden in quiet countryside area with many orchards (Betuwe). It’s a great environment for resting, walking and biking. The city centre is on 20 minutes walking distance (or 5 minutes by car). The railroad station is on 15 minutes walking distance (or 3 minutes by car). The city Tiel is very close to the (A15) motorway. Appr. ½ hour driving to Utrecht and 1 hour driving to Amsterdam, Rotterdam or The Hague. The city Tiel is situated on the river “de Waal”.
Living: The house has (for Dutch standards) a large living (65m2) with a fire place and there is plenty of wood available to make as many open fires as you want. The floor consists of tiles and very maintain friendly. There’s a 47inch full HD flat screen TV available with a Dolby surround set (6 x 100 watt speakers and 1 x 200watt woofer) and a CD/DVD-player/recorder. There’s also a laptop available with wireless high speed internet connection (20Mb) and a webcam so you can stay in touch with your relatives all over the world. We normally have a pet (a West Highland White Terrier or Westy) but this dog will be with friends during your stay. The kitchen: The kitchen is completely rebuilt 6 years ago and has a large semi professional gas-stove. You can eat with 4 persons in the kitchen or with 7 people in the living. Connected to the kitchen (but separated by a door) is a pantry with the washing machine, drying machine, extra fridge and the freezer. Via this pantry you can go to the garage. In this garage there are 2 tracking bikes available (with 3 x 8 gears) as Holland in general and our area specific, is really ideal for biking. The seats and handle bars can be adjusted to your size. Study: Downstairs is a study but this room will be locked during your stay as we will put the more private belongings in this room. Master bedroom: Upstairs is (again according to Dutch standards) a large “blue-white” master bedroom with TV (hanging on the ceiling). The king size bed is a box-spring and fully adjustable with remote control. In the wardrobe you will find empty space to store all your belongings. 2nd bedroom: On the 1st floor there’s a 2nd bedroom with 2 beds and a desk with a PC, colour printer and high-speed internet connection. In these rooms there’s an empty wardrobe for your clothes. Bathroom: Also the bathroom is completely rebuilt 6 years ago and has a double washbasin and separated shower and bath(tub). The floor is heated so you’ll never have cold feet. The toilet is in a separated room and NOT part of the bathroom. Studio: The 3rd bedroom upstairs is used by my wife as a studio. It’s full with painting and other art stuff and it will be locked during your stay. The area: Tiel is situated in the middle of Holland and is the “orchard” area of Holland called “De Betuwe”. There are many apple-, pear-, prune- but special cherry orchards in this area. It is a very old and historical city (appr. 45.000 inhabitants) and it was from 900 to 1100 the most important trading and harbour city of Holland. There is a museum where you can learn and see more about the interresting history of Tiel. Very recently they found on a excavation site at Tiel, for the first time in Holland evidence that the Batavians, who lived in this area from 100 BC to 400AC, worked very closely together with the Roman depressors. In the museum you can see this evidence and learn more about this for Holland unique historical site. Very close to Tiel is the little village called Buren. The whole village is a protected area. Nobody is allowed to change his exterior without approval of the government. This is the village where Anna van Buren comes from and Anna was the first wife of William of Orange (1533-1584). William of Orange founded Holland and therefore he’s called “the father of the homeland”. In this village is a statue of William and his wife Anne and their kids. There is also an “Orange Museum” where you can learn about the strong bonds between Buren and the royal family. The present heir of the throne is still named after this village with Willem-Alexander van Buren. |
