Exchange Zones

Open to offers from July 2008 to July 2009 our preference would be to visit either New Zealand or Australia for an extended period of time (6 months +). Summer of 2007 would consider an exchange (2-3 weeks) to Eastern Canada or U.S.A, particularly a coastal area.
Our 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom 1100 sq.ft.home is situated 2 km from Lake Ontario, in a suburban neighbourhood in Kingston, Ontario. Our home backs onto a large conservation area with many trails. Kingston is located on the northeast shore of Lake Ontario.
We have a cabin (off the grid) an hour north of the city on a small lake. The cabin is situated on 3 acres of land with 300 feet of shoreline with excellent swimming, fishing, and canoeing. The cabin, along with a number of small boats could made available for your use.
Kingston, home to Queen’s University, one of Canada’s premier universities, is located in south eastern Ontario close to the east: Ottawa (2hrs), , Montreal (2.5 hrs), and Quebec City, a world heritage site (6 hrs) and to the west: Toronto (2.5 hrs) Niagara Falls (4 hrs) We are 40 minutes north west of the Thousand Islands Bridge, a major border crossing to the United States. New York City, Philadelphia, & Washington DC are all within a 7-8 hour drive. Kingston is known as the fresh water sailing capital of the world. Kingston and area has many summer festivals, great restaurants, golfing, hiking, camping, heritage buildings, and world class boating.

I am an elementary teacher who will be on a leave from teaching from July 2008 to September 2009. My partner is an occupational therapist. We hope to arrange an exchange(s) during my leave year. We will be traveling with our daughter who will be 9 years old at the time. Our extended family also lives in the Kingston area and would gladly give you input into things to do and see in the area and take you sailing. Queen’s University is 2km from our home.
