Come to Vancouver Island, Canada to ski and snowboard. Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island is often the snowiest resort in the world. Last year by Christmas we had a base of 520 cm, more than any other resort. It's half an hour to the mountain from where we are in Comox and 5 minutes to the beach or golf club. We're in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house with a private back yard backing onto a park.
We're looking for a one month house exchange starting early Dec 2012 with home owners anywhere in Hawaii, but preferably Kauai. We're writers and have a flexible schedule. The house is fully furnished and you'll find everything you need including cable tv, wireless internet and use of our Mazda van. MORE HOME DETAILS: This 4 bedroom, two bathroom house backs onto a park with a salmon bearing stream flowing through the property. The home is 1800 square feet, and there is a garage to safely store boats, bikes, and other toys. Includes washer and dryer (plus clothes line), plus-five appliance deluxe kitchen, open concept living room and thermal windows. Relax on the bridge and watch the numerous cutthroat trout splashing in the water below. It is centrally located in Comox and 2.2 km from the beach, 0.9 km to the nearest golf course, 2.1 km to the marina, and 32 km to the world-class ski slopes of, Mount Washington. The seaside village centre of Comox is a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the house. MORE COMOX BC DETAILS: The town of Comox is situated on a peninsula about half way up the east coast of Vancouver Island. Surrounded by sandy beaches, it is sandwiched between the clear waters of the Georgia Strait and the mountains of Strathcona Park; an area of rugged wilderness that inspired the creation of the first provincial park in British Columbia. The ski resort of Mount Washington at the park's boundary has had more snow than any other ski resort in the world for the past three years running. The sheltered waters of the Georgia Strait offer excellent boating and fishing opportunities, while the rivers are ideal for whitewater kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Steelhead, trout, salmon, cod and crabs are found in abundance in local waters. While the natural beauty is the Comox Valley's greatest draw, it is also becoming a gastronomical destination. A rich agricultural belt combined with a strong demand for local organic foods has created a vibrant food culture including a dynamic farm market with many producers creating award-winning cheeses, wines and other foods. |
