Butchart Gardens, located just outside of Victoria, B.C, boasts 55 acres of stunning floral show gardens that come alive with every season. Along with the plant life, Butchart Gardens has bird sanctuaries with trained pigeons, many historical statues, entertainment, and fine dining. Don’t forget to rub “Taccas’” snout for good luck!

Garden tours not your thing? Try a vineyard tour of one of lower Vancouver Islands many vineyards. The Barking Dog Organic Vineyard is British Columbia's Certified Organic.  Or visit the Chalet Estate Winery, which is about a 40 min. drive from downtown Victoria. Specialty wines in the wine shop, a wine patio, and structured wine tastings are just a few reasons why it is worth the drive.

Victoria also provides a beautiful background for its many golf courses. Our newest course, Bear Mountain Golf Course, not only has a beautiful golf course, but an amazing spa and a restaurant with a delicious menu.

If you are interested in the historical aspects of our fine city, visit Hatley Castle at the Royal Roads University. Guided and go-at-your-own-pace tours of the castle and its beautiful gardens is a great way to spend an afternoon. Hatley Castle is also the site where all of the X-Men movies were filmed!

The Royal B.C. Museum is another great way to spend a day, and the museum has an IMAX theatre that always has fantastic documentaries and movies.

If you are out for a more fast-paced activity, whale watching is always an adventure filled with exciting things to see. Most places will even offer free trips if no whales are found.

Still not as heart racing as you would like? Try WildPlay Element Parks, which is located on an island in Nanaimo. You can drive there, which takes under 2 hours, or you can take the train courtesy of VIA Rail. Traveling via train will cost around $30CAN return trip per person, and takes about two-and-half hours.

Victoria’s downtown and Inner Harbour is home to many unique shopping opportunities and entertainment. During the spring/summer seasons, the Inner Harbour provides shows for all ages, including Tall Ship tours and concerts.

The B.C. Wax Museum is another interesting place to visit, and the Undersea Gardens can be both educational and exciting… You never know what undersea creature will swim by! Both the B.C. Wax Museum and the Undersea Gardens are located in Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
