A Warm Christmas on a Sunny Beach in the Southern Hemisphere?

by James Feng

If your answer is yes, please come to my house in Auckland, New Zealand. Auckland has been ranked the 5th best cities among the top 100 cities in the world according to the recent survey of the “World City Mayors” magazine in 2008. It ranked the 4th in 2002. Auckland is best for its climate; it never gets too hot or too cold. The highest temperature in summer (Christmas) season is about 25 to 28 degree centigrade. During the Christmas season, it is best to lay down on a sunny beach, listening to your favourite MP3 music with a book in your hand or dozing on the beach while watching others fishing, wind surfing and kayaking or swimming  in the blue sea. It is just like you live in an air-conditioned room but surrounded by beautiful nature. People in New Zealand are friendly and kind. Wherever you go you will always feel safe, welcomed and warmly greeted or helped. There are a lot of high quality golf courses easily available here in Auckland. Fishing in the sea, on the cliff or fresh water trout fishing has been most popular. Imagine that during the cold icy winter in the northern hemisphere, you come to New Zealand enjoy the summer sun and the hot springs in Auckland or Rotorua, white water rafting or hang gliding in Queenstown. Your fresh experience will soon let you forget about the cold winter or stress in the northern hemisphere.

My house is about 5 minutes to the eastern beach of Auckland. It is about 30 minutes drive from Auckland city center and the same distance from Auckland International Airport and a public bus stop is only hundred meters away. It is within walking distance to Pakuranga Country Club where you can meet a lot of golfers or go kayaking or swimming in the sea. In the newly established Botany Down Town center and Highland Park shopping center, there are new cinemas, a variety of restaurants, bars, shops, and supermarkets. They are within walking distance. Our house is spacious and quiet. It is at the end of a small street call “Citation Way”, very handy as your gateway to see other beautiful places or tourist attractions in New Zealand.

We have a 4 bedroom house and two of them are empty all year round. My wife and I both are secondary school teachers and we have been teaching in Auckland for the last 20 years and have not seen snow falls since. It is our wish that we will be able to spend a white Christmas in your city during the holiday season. You are welcome to stay in my place any time during the year. We look forward to your visit. Please come and enjoy a hot and sunny New Zealand Christmas.
