California Dreamin'

Reported by JoMar© All rights reserved.

Back in the Northern Hemisphere; hmmm, not sure how we feel about that.  Mixed emotions and hard to adjust to the "North American Way".

Being in Los Angeles is kinda cool, but we have been here many times and I (Marc) also lived here as a growing child back in the 70's...

We are lucky enough to be able to see our friend Stephen and also stay in his "Laurel Canyon" home! Stephen has brought us to see things like Alvera Street which is a little bit of Mexico in the heart of Los Angeles; Farmers Market; he has brought us to Venice Beach; we were a guest on the TV show, Dr. Phil, and seen "Mission Impossible III" both on the Paramount Pictures lot --thanks Stephen! We were invited to Stephen's mom and dad's for a luscious dinner and entertained by a great set of parents, and we received a cool piece of art from Stephen's dad that will be hung proudly in our new home in Vancouver, which we don't have yet!  And what a fun night we had out with Sonia and Stephen -- dinner at a wonderful Indian diner real treasures: Sonia and Arthur!

Oh, and Stephen brought us to a very interesting Jewish eatery called Canters', a legend in Los Angeles, where we had Matzo Ball soup for the first time! YUM!

Just before leaving the Los Angeles area, we just had to make a stop and visit my mom and dad's best friends, Irene and Herve Vezina; I met their children, Francine, Danielle, Francois and Claudine when we first moved to California.  They were from Canada originally and spoke French --us children brought the adults together and have been friends since! Loved seeing you two, and wish I've had made time to see the kids, too.

And in our down time, just being in the Hollywood hills where Stephen lives, surrounded by gardens, a great pool, two pups, Suzie and Buddy, trickling waterfall into the pool was well absorbed by John and me ...

We will go to Las Vegas and The Grand Canyon on the 30th of April, for 3-4 days and of course, attend one of the magnificent "sold-out-every-night-for-3-years" performances at the Caesars Palace and see CELINE DION!!!

(get over it) heheheee ...

Hope this finds you all well, and yep, we will be home, soon.

Marc and John xo
