Our house is a charming, older tudor style home with 3 bedrooms that includes a comfortable lower level guest bedroom with private bathroom. There is a large garden in the back with a patio and a deck off the kitchen. We walk (10-15 minutes) to our town center, with shopping, restaurants, theatres, and a major live music venue, and (20 minutes) to a Metro Rail station ( Red Line) that is a 15 minute ride into Washington DC with the Capitol, White House, museums and the National Mall.
We live in Silver Spring, a lively and vibrant community just outside of Washington DC. Within walking distance of our house are two movie theaters, a large one for popular films and a smaller art deco theater that is the home of the American Film Institute, that screens a variety of films both American and foreign, often with directors present to answer questions after the screening. Washington DC has people from around the world and that diversity is well represented in our Silver Spring community. Our local restaurants include Thai, Ethiopian, Burmese, Italian, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, and others. Other cultural opportunities abound, from live theater to music performances. Only a short drive from our house is a major concert venue.
