Miami Shores is centrally located 10 minutes from anywhere you need to be in Miami. Many attorneys live in the area due to the close proximity and access to Downtown and it is only 20 min from Fort Lauderdale. The Miami Shores golf course is great to spend the day or go to the driving range for a couple of hours, its right around the corner. Sundays they have an awesome buffet brinch w/ all you can drink mimosas and bloody mary's and live jazz music. You take your pick for which beach you would like to visit they are all 5-10 minutes over the bridge depending on what you are looking to find. There is even a nude beach near by at the Haulover inlet if that is your thing. The water in Miami is warm and turquoise. Make sure you bring sunscreen. We have beach chairs, umbrella and cooler for your enjoyment when going to the beach. We have some beach games too and two bikes you are welcome to use. We also have wonderful restaurants, nightlife , Dine in the Design District, Midtown, the new hip area for people in the know, do the gallery walk in funky Wynwood area or cross the bridge into South Beach where your choices are endless or go to Bal Harbor for world class elite shopping . Each area has its own unique flavor and where I am located allows you to experience Miami from a broader perspective, from a locals point of view. The neighborhood is quiet, nestled away in Miami Shores Village which has an old 50's neighborhood feel w/ large trees and we have our own police department for our small town which is the best in Miami and make you feel safe and are very efficient. There is a recreation complex for the kids, community pool w/ slides and a country club if you like to play golf or tennis. Starbucks, Subway and Hiro's Sushi is w/ in w/ in walking distance and there is a Publix supermarket a few blocks east. It is best you have a car so you can enjoy all that Miami has to offer. I find homeexchangers are of high caliber and have no problem offering my car for exchange. I drive a Honda Accord coupe. You can go to www.miamishoresvillage.com to see the city's website.
Art Basel is in December - 2nd largest art show in the world and is a great experience. You also have great festivals and concerts, Miami Children Museum and the Miami Seaquarium, Jungle Island and the magnificent Viscaya estate and gardens and of course we are known for the nighlife and party and there is never a shortage of nightlife, bars, casinos and electronic music events.
The Keys is also a great day trip from here and you can take the $99 Bahama Express too for great diving in the Bahamas or Key West. We can recommend local dive spots near the house in Key Biscayne too and you can take a dive trip with one of the local charters.
If you want to see some gators and Indian reservation you can go to the Everglades and take a swamp tour or airboat ride are a blast too or rent a boat and travel the Everglades by boat and its many islands.

About Home Exchange
Owners
: |
I (Leah) own a real estate apartment rental agency and real estate sales office on 15th & Washington in South Beach and the sales office is in the popular financial Brickell district near Downtown Miami. My Boyfriend (Bryan) and partner also works in the business and majorly focuses on the investment end while I handle the brokerage end. We work alot but love to travel and get away from things when the opportunity presents itself. We recently came from the Snowbombing event in the Austrian Alps and my boyfriend skied for the first time. I normally travel w/ Bryan or my sister or possibly a friend. I obviously love the beach and sun and water but once I went to ski I was hooked and my boyfriend agrees. We cant get enough of it and really look forward to getting away to a ski town in the winter. I usually travel along w/ The Miami Ski Club for their annual events but prefer to stay on our own in a home exchange rather than at the hotel as we feel we get a more local feel for the place, I love the idea of a home away from home and really dont care for all the hotel amenities, etc. We are responsible, adventurous, flexible and open to new experiences, respectful of others. We would be open to mountain exchange retreats in the summer. We especially like Utah, Colorado, Arizona and California. I have exchanged in Vail, Whistler, Amsterdam and the Keys and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. We dont like staying in hotels anymore.
We are open to weekend destinations or last minute trips anywhere in the US as my partner and I are flexible and welcome a weekend to pick up and go somehwere new. We live in our home so last minute exchanges are best simultaneous but dont always have to be as long as you give us a heads up.
Both Bryan and I are diver certified and can recommend great dive spots and rental equipment and charters to join.
