Our 1860's house is roomy and has a combination of Victorian and contemporary designed room. The big kitchen is at the centre of the house, and there are small gardens to front and rear. There is an open fire, bath and shower, and two toilets.
There is also a garage. It is in a 'family' street in the friendly inner city neighbourhood of Sherwood Rise in front of a park, with a small play area. Bus and tram links mean 7-20 minute journey into city centre with broad choice of culture, restaurants, cafes and bars. An hours drive from the Peak district with its walks, breathtaking views, and loads to do including Chatsworth House, which is one of the top 5 visited historic houses in the UK. Local facilities in walking distance are swimming pool and gym, asian and afro-caribbean local shopping areas. Easily accessible are the football grounds, and the famous Trent cricket ground. A short drive takes you to Sherwood Forest where there are lots of activities or just freedom and space to roam in places like the National Trusts Clumber Park. The house is a good base for visiting cities Lincoln (amazing cathedral), Manchester, Liverpool and London St Pancras (international conenctions to Eurostar to Paris and the continent) is only 1. 40 minutes on the train. Push bikes for use for family, and maybe car. Finally our neighbours on both sides are also friends and will help out if needed. |
