my house is situated in a kibbutz. this form of community is unique to israel, so in case you are not familiar with it you may wanna read a bit about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibbutz the house is about 70 square meters, and consists of a living room with a nice wooden floor which is connected to a kitchen and a dining table, a bedroom which is connected to a kind of a studio (for lack of a better word), where i have my books, the computer desk and my electric piano, a bathroom and a small storage place. the house has a very nice sheded terrace with cozy sofas and a hammock for sitting outside and surrounded by my beautiful garden, herbs, bushes, fruit trees and lawns. in the kibbutz there is a grocery store and a dining hall and there is also a cafe about 15 minutes of walking from my house, but if you want to go to a more commercial area you will need to take the bus (which is also near the cafe, about 15 minutes walking from my house) or to use a car. it is 5 minutes by bus (or car) to big commercial areas and about 30 minutes to tel aviv. the kibbutz area is great for nature hikes or biking. it is surrounded by fields, fruit orchards and there's a lake and a nature reserve about 15 minutes walking (no swimming, yes fishing). the closest beach is about 30 minutes by foot, it is very beautiful but is not lifeguarded and there may be nudists there. there are other beaches that are very close as well but would require driving to get to. |
