I live in shared accomodation with five other people. It is quite a nice house, redecorated within the last few years. The people are very nice, four guys and girl, although one guy's girlfriend is here a lot. The household system is quite mature and fair. There is a kitchen (washing machine, tumble dryer, electric cooker, microwave, 2 fridges and a deep freeze), two toilets, two showers (one electric) 5 bedrooms. My room is a small single room with a wardrobe, desk with lockable drawer, clothes drawers, a bookcase and an electric heater. My room is lockable for your privacy. Everyone very much keeps to themselves, but it is quite a sociable house nonetheless. It would suit a laid-back individual who likes to meet new people and experience the culture of Cork city.
The house is up a small hill in the city centre, so there are many amenities. We have many great restaurants as well as cheap casual dining. Everything to facilitate your stay is in the city (cheap quality supermarket-Tesco, cinema, clothes shops, bookshops and music shops). On the other side of the river you can climb a number of steps (quite a walk for a smoker!) to see a lovely view of the whole city, which many people do on New Year's Eve to watch the amazing fireworks display. The nightlife here is quite good, we have An Brog, a student indie/rock/electronic music pub, as well as the Crane Lane Theatre which caters for a more mature clientele, with great gigs and atmosphere. Hope you enjoy!!
