Our property is located 1 km away from the village of Mens, capitale of the little montainous region of the Trièves, southern part of the French Alps.

A two floors house of 160 square meters. A big kitchen fully renovated this years, breakfast area, dinning room, 2 bathrooms, 2 separated WC, a playing room with a piano, 1 office with free access on internet and phone for Europe, 4 bedrooms including 2 with a private terrasse (1 bedroom with a 160cm bed, 1 with a 140 cm bed, 2 with single bed)

Also 2 terrasses, parking for 2 cars.

A huge 2000 square meters garden with BBQ, solar cooker, composter and a children's cottage.

Last but not least, we can lend you 4 bikes and a car.

For the summer 2014, we would like to visit Spain. We are also open to any proposal.

Additional information:

One kilomètres away from Mens, 1500 inhabitants, capital of the Trièves. There is all shops and facilities including medical. Trièves is located between the well known region of Vercors, Ecrin and Devoluy, in the southern part of the French Alps. It's in Isère, Rhône Alpes région.

ONE WEEK IN TRIEVES :

FIRST DAY in Mens
10 AM : you visit the local museum.
Lunch time : you try the "assiette surprise" at the café des sports.
2 PM : you start a passionate discussion with Eric at the Engrangeou about our local wine, the "vin de Prébois"

4 PM : a bit hungry, you buy 3 bouffettes.

5 PM : now you are thirsty... you head for a good beer at the historical "Café des arts".

SECOND DAY : you head for the top of the Chatel (1937 m) or the Obiou (2790 m). You can start hiking right from the house.

THIRD DAY : a 100 km cycling tour with the "Déjanté du Trièves". Don't forget your vitamins...

HOW TO ARRIVE IN MENS ?

Bus from Grenoble leave you 1 km from our home (a bit slow).

The train station (gare de Clelles - Mens) is 15 km away, the journey from Grenoble take one hour and is very nice. We can pick you at the train station.

By plane, you can come through the Grenoble-Saint Geoirs airport, mainly during winter, then 45 minutes by bus to Grenoble. Or from Lyon-Saint Exupery then one hour by train to Grenoble.

By car, the motorway stop 20 km and 20 minutes away from our home.

Catherine is a nurse, Olivier a physiotherapist. We are a French & Belgian couple. We have worked in the the international Commitee of the Red Cross (ICRC). From 1989 to 1998, Olivier was in Armenia, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Sudan, Pakistan, Chechnya, Tadjikistan, Kenya...

We are now very involved in the local live. We have two children, Anton 14 and Pablo 12. Also a cat, Mimine and 2 chicken Carla and Bruni... They will delight your childen and provide you with fantastics eggs. We are non smokers. We have already swaped home(reference available), it was a pleasure.

We had a wonderful holiday thanks to the charming family Dodinot. A cozy home, very comfortable in a most lovely village in the Trieves.

We enjoyed the breathtaking landscape of the Alps, the pitturesque village of Mens and the delicious food at the Saturday market.

we had a wonderful stay in Mens!

We recommend the home of Catherine, Olivier and their children to all who love the mountains and rural settings. The home exchange was very succesful.
The house was very nice, well maintained and clean. The owners prepared a manual in English and French with all the practicalities one should be aware of. They also connected us with some of their friends so we even enjoyed the company of locals as well as learning more about the region and the way of life.
The village of Mens is ideal for hiking, bicycling, relaxing - but there are also sites and cultural activities within an hour's drive away.
