Kunvald (population 1400) offers limited services (2 small grocery stores, postal office, 2 pubs, 1 restaurant). However, Zamberk (population 7,000 / just 7km from Kunvald) offers visitors convenient shopping in 3 supermarkets, restaurants, bakery, banks & banking machines, 2 bike repair shops, gas stations, aquatic center, 2 bowling centers, regional tourist information center, etc.
Czech Republic (Bohemia & Moravia) is located on the historical North-South and East-West crossroads of continental Europe. It is a treasure chest of history, rich culture and gentle scenery only a few foreigners take the time to explore, learn about and appreciate. Most tourists heading for Czech Republic focus their attention on Prague and UNESCO designated historical sites, paying very little attention to other locations. However, the lack of international recognition does not take away from the humble beauty of Czech villages and towns or the mountain ranges that create the natural boundaries of this country in the heart of Europe.
Northeastern part of Czech Republic, Orlicke hory (Eagle Mountains), while well known to all Czech natives, is one of the regions where visitors looking for an alternative to organized tourism can find a relaxing atmosphere, numerous opportunities to enjoy various sport activities, and the freedom to explore this region.
We invite active couples, families, as well as groups of up to 10 visitors to make our cottage Elsa their home away from home. We are positive the visitors will appreciate very good access to over 400km of hiking and biking trails and very favorable location for day trips in Orlicke Hory (Eagle Mountains).
Cottage Elsa can be also used as a base for exploring capitols of Central Europe:
* Prague/Czech Republic (185km)
* Bratislava/Slovakia (250km)
* Vienna/Austria (260km)

About Home Exchange Owners:
We are Czech-Canadian 46+ couple. We were born & educated in Czech Republic and lived in Austria, Quebec and since 1998 we live in British Columbia, Canada.
In our spare time we enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking and scuba diving. We plan to explore also paragliding, and if the right chance would present itself, also sailing.
We love to travel very light with just backpacks, using mainly public transport and eating in places frequented by working class. This allows us to mingle with locals away from beaten tourist path, to closely experience other cultures and to learn from other cultures.
Vladka does not mind snow and one of her travel wishes is to see polar bears in the wild. Vladka also wants to take time to travel Europe more and to finally visit some pre-dominantly buddhist country.
Den prefers to stay away from snow as far as possible, his best winter vacation was diving at Sipadan in Celebes Sea. Working frequently in Mexico, Den has great admiration for spanish culture and 20+ years old wish to visit Chile. Plus, he wants to visit more muslim countries.
We never regretted any trips we made, just those we kept dreaming about but did not have the time, possibility or resources to do (yet).
We are open to all offers for the swap with pre-set or flexible dates as well as non-simultaneous exchange. Feel free to surprise us with your proposal.
Our primary residence is in Burton, BC, Canada and would consider any respectable offer for short (1-2 weeks) as well as longer periods (months).
We would love to use our various properties in British Columbia, Canada and Czech Republic as a stepping stones to see the world. Consequently, we encourage you to check our other listings as well (link provided below).
