We have a renovated two bedroom cottage with an open concept in the Laurentian Mountains, one hour north of Montreal. Cross-country ski trails, snow mobile trails (separate from ski de plein), ice skating, snow-shoe trails are all within 4 minutes of our house. Nearby towns have more cross-country trails, as well as downhill skiing. 20 minutes South of us is the premier ski town of Saint-Sauveur. Gray Rocks and Mt. Tremblant ski resorts, are 20 minutes North of us. The world champion ski jumping competition was held last year in the town of Ste. Adele / Piedmont, which is 10 minutes from us. Tubing is also offered there if you do not ski.
Our house sleeps 4 easily and comfortably, with one separate closed room with queen sized bed, and a guest room that has a double bed. A child could sleep comfortably on the couch in the living room or office, and we could offer a folding cot for another person. We live in a snow filled shangri-la in the winters, in a little town that's very Quebecois. Nearby towns speak more English, but the French people here have all been friendly towards Americans who do not speak French. Summertimes offer bike trails, hiking trails, swimming in fresh water lakes (we are up the hill from Lac des Sables but are near numerous other swimming lakes), boating, jet skiing, outdoor barbecue on our deck with an outdoor wood stove. Horseback riding available in our town. Full kitchen. Jet air bath. Wifi and cable tv in both American channels and Canadian (french and english). DVD player and video player. Washer/Dryer. Wood stove. Free phone calls throughout Canada and USA. You will have to buy a calling card for any other country. We are centrally located to everything fun and exciting, and yet when you get back to our place, you will feel as if you are alone in the woods. We would like to swap for at least 1 week in Massachusetts. Prefer Boston, JP, Cambridge/Somerville, and Hull. Will consider other places too. Perhaps there's someone out there looking to write a book or take a sabbatical someplace foreign that isn't too far from home? I'm American and work in Cambridge; my partner is French and Canadian. We have a dog that doesn't bark, spray or chew. Non-allergenic (he's Malamute). We would like to bring him along with us. We have a Dyson vacuum cleaner that we will be taking with us to pick up stray fur. Our house does not smell as though a dog lives in our house, and yours won't either. He has copious and excellent references from people in Canada and the US who has hosted him and us. Your well-behaved dog is welcome to join you here. |
