Additional information: |
Our house circa 1870 is located in la Village d’Argentine, the first neighborhood to be settled in Gatineau. We are separated from vieux hull by Ruisseau de la brasserie, and are located on a quiet street, which is only a 2km drive or walk across the Ottawa River to downtown Ottawa, Canada’s national capital. We have a bike path 1 minute from our house if you turn left on the path you will head further into Quebec and find Gatineau Park where you can find outdoor activities swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing and camping. Continuing through Gatineau Park you can visit Aylmer, Chelsea or if you have the energy visit Wakefield. You can follow bike paths in the other direction to explore the Museums, Galleries, Markets, the Historic Rideau Canal, and Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. www.capcan.ca will provide all the information on the 250km of bike paths and public spaces to enjoy, as well as festivals going on year round in the region.
Cinemas, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping, bars and other amenities are all very accessible, and in summer time we generally never use our car (even to travel to work), although of course we will leave a car for you!
By car Montreal is 2 hrs and historic Quebec City an additional 2.5 hrs. You can cross into the USA through Prescott within 1.5 hours of leaving our home. Travelling Boston will take 5hrs, and if you want to camp while in the USA you are welcome to use our equipment.
