****WHEN WE PREFER VISITS: We usually prefer that home exchangers visit our place Nov, early Dec, Jan, end-April or May. Other periods may be possible, depending on availability.
If you can travel at short notice (1-2 weeks), summer may also be possible.

Banff is Canada's top destination and a mecca for a dizzying array of outdoor activities.
In the midst of it all, but away from the crowds, is Birch Haven. Ideally situated in downtown Canmore, this luxury loft is 3 minutes from the Banff National Park gates and just over an hour from Calgary International Airport.
Our downtown Canmore location means that everything is at your doorstep -- trendy restaurants, supermarkets, health food, sports and video stores, even doctor's offices and ATMs.
Birch Haven is blessed with easy access to 4 national parks. Those marked with * are, in fact, honored as UNESCO World Heritage sites:
24 km / 15 miles to Banff townsite (approx 15 mins)
80 km / 50 miles to Lake Louise and the start of the Icefields Parkway (approx 45 minutes)
60 km / 35 miles to Kootenay National Park* entrance (approx 45 mins)
80 km / 50 miles to Yoho National Park* entrance (approx 1hr 15 mins)
200 km / 125 miles to Jasper National Park* entrance (approx 2 hrs)
26 km / 16 miles to Kananaskis Country (approx 0.5 hrs)
What sets the Canadian Rockies apart from other mountain destinations is how little effort it takes to reach spectacular scenery. Truly stunning vistas that may require hours of hiking in other parks are right on the highway, accessible from the window of your car or tour bus.
Indeed, some of these drives (including the Icefields Parkway drive) are rated as one of the most scenic highways in the world. You can even drive up to Columbia Glacier, the largest non-polar ice-cap in the world, hop on a snowcoach and walk on the face of the glacier!
Summer activities are seemingly endless: world-class golfing, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback, wildlife-watching, hiking, heli-hiking, ATV expeditions, caving, rock climbing, mountain-biking and more.
Winter is romantic and simply magical. Ice-skate, snowshoe, snowmobile, dog-sled, ice-fish, and ski at Banff/Lake Louise (voted "Best Ski Resort of the World" by the London Daily Telegraph!

We are a family of considerate, experienced home exchangers comprising of 2 adult professionals. Occasionally we may travel with our college-age daughter. We are seasoned globe-trotters and have successfully completed over a dozen home exchanges all over the world. We have a voracious appetite for learning about other cultures, as well as a love of the performing arts!
We are non-smokers, and will treat your home with the loving care that we treat our own.

We had a great time here. This is our 3rd week of a 4 month vacation. This condo is my favorite place that we have stayed. It is so comfortable. I had the bedroom/loft upstairs. The bed was so cozy! I wish that that was my bed at home! I also love the huge window in the living room. The patio was nice too, like everything else. We have had a fantastic time here. Even my dad liked it!

Wow! Our stay here has been an amazing experience! We have felt at home and yet truly pampered by the luxuries of this condo.
We were in heaven as we explored Johnston Canyon, Radium Hot Springs, Banff, Bow Valley River, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake canoeing, rafting on the Kicking Horse, spotting elk, grizzly bears (2!), mountain goats and big-horned sheep, and taking in the breathtaking mountain views!
