We live on YORKE PENINSULA, right in the main street of a typical small, quiet Aussie country town.

RURAL!!! Surrounded by barley/wheat/sheep/canola farms. Only one town on the Peninsula with a population more than 2,000 people.

We are 200km from Adelaide (the capital city of South Australia) which is also the closest Airport. We usually meet our exchangers at the Airport and bring them to the Peninsula.

MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE; hottest months January & February - can be 40+C.

Being a narrow Peninsula we're close to many pristine white, sandy beaches. Absolutely uninhabited. Sandhills, reefs, jetties for fishing, grain ports, dolphins, lighthouses, shells.

EAST or WEST the coast is 10-15 minutes. SOUTH coast is more rugged (surf/ship wrecks). Kangaroo Island visible off this coast. NORTH -one hour- is former copper mining area (Cornish).

BAROSSA VALLEY wineries (Jacobs Creek etc) an hours' drive.

2 VEHICLES: one is automatic & one 4-wheel drive for beach driving.

Does not have to be an exotic location or big, luxurious accommodation!! Mediterranean Europe pref, but open to all offers from UK/other European areas. In fact, we will consider ANY offers.

Additional information:

Flexible about dates; we've found non-simultaneous swaps best for UK/Europe (our summer is Dec-Feb). We had 9 house exchanges (in one big 6- month holiday) in 2005 and 7 swaps (one 4-month holiday) in 2009. We love areas similar to our own: rural/unspoilt/'off the beaten tourist track'. Also enjoy historical sites, Museums/Galleries, National Parks, coast etc. Fond of Antique shops & flea markets too! Happy to look after pets and gardens.

About Home Exchange Owners :

Both 1950's vintage; semi-retired. Ash has a degree in Fine Arts (Sculpture); I had my own Interior Decorating business; I'm a Marriage Celebrant now & have just written a local history book. Our children are all independent now. We have almost finished restoring our own home to its 1900's glory.
