We live in Australia in the south-east corner of the state of
Queensland, the most popular tourist area in Australia (apart from Sydney Harbour) with many people moving here for a tree-change and a sea-change. We are surrounded by wonderful things to see and do- the reason we moved here. We are ideally situated halfway between the capital city of Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, both 45mins on either side of us, with the famous Gold Coast a further 1 hour away. Brisbane is less than an hour by electric train, which departs every 30 mins from a station 10 mins away from our house. This line goes right through Brisbane to the Gold Coast, but it would be best to drive as there is so much to do when you get there. Brisbane is a semi-tropical city stretching for miles along a river, offering many sightseeing and hospitality experiences. The Sunshine Coast is a 100 mile long stretch of coastline renowned for its lay-back lifestyle and plentiful beaches and headlands. The hinterland extending about 100 miles inland behind the Sunshine Coast is beautiful elevated countryside, renowned for its lifestyle properties within close proximity to the coast and the capital. It includes Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo 30 mins from us, great places to eat, wineries, fantastic views, waterfalls, dams, rainforest, gorgeous B and B’s in secluded locations, pretty picnic and camping areas, and various theme parks. There are various markets nearly every day of the week selling top quality handmade items and local produce. There are bohemian villages and craft villages in the hills, and fishing villages on the coast. There are so many scenic drives, there is always somewhere to go. Nearby Bribie Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge, and the protected passage in between is a calm protected fishing paradise. We are 15 min to the major shopping areas of Caboolture, and 30 mins to large shopping centres on the northern end of Brisbane. Our house is on a half acre block right on the banks of a tidal river near the mouth where it runs into the Passage between us and Bribie Island. The fishing and crabbing opportunities are endless nearby and we have our own pontoon from which you can catch a variety of fish and crabs, to go with the organic veges from the garden. Right next to the water is a gazebo for a BBQ, outdoor meal or glass of wine watching the sun or moon go down over the expanse of water, while you listen to the fish jump. Although it is winter, you won’t be very cold, but we have a ‘firepit’ down by the river, with lots of forest nearby to fetch wood. The outlook is great, very quiet and relaxing, friendly neighbours, 2 queen beds a divan and a daybed, outdoor areas, verandahs, sunroom with views over the water, well equipped kitchen, fireplace, lots of non-fiction books, internet and well-equipped office. We work from home sharetrading, so our only stipulation when we travel is an internet connection. We will be visiting our son in Michigan during July/August and would be interested in combining an exchange for a couple of weeks. We are open to various times at our house as we are away from home a lot as we love to explore new places, and because we have a motor-home, can be away anytime, so you could come anytime really. it makes it so much easier if the swap doesnt have to take place at exactly the same time. |
